Mosta is famous across Malta for its Rotunda, a grand church with one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. The Mosta Dome, as it's known locally, has a remarkable story. During the Second World War, a bomb fell straight through the roof while Mass was being held, but it failed to explode. The replica on display inside is a sobering reminder of that lucky escape.

Away from the church, Mosta is a busy town with plenty of shops, cafés and a lively market square.
