    Quick Facts about Mosta

Mosta is famous across Malta for its Rotunda, a grand church with one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. The Mosta Dome, as it's known locally, has a remarkable story. During the Second World War, a bomb fell straight through the roof while Mass was being held, but it failed to explode. The replica on display inside is a sobering reminder of that lucky escape.

Away from the church, Mosta is a busy town with plenty of shops, cafés and a lively market square. On Mondays, the weekly market draws locals and visitors alike, with stalls selling everything from fresh produce to colourful flowers. The narrow side streets often reveal traditional townhouses with intricate wooden balconies painted in bright shades.

The surrounding countryside is surprisingly green in spring. Wildflowers flourish in the fields, with irises and buttercups among the more common sights. In gardens and public spaces, roses are a favourite, often trained up trellises or blooming in neat rows. The combination of urban life and bursts of natural beauty makes Mosta a place that's both practical and unexpectedly pretty.
